To sustain a world-class research hub, Singapore continues to focus on attracting and nurturing top scientific talent, and fostering deep and broad collaborative research across the BMS landscape. Singapore aims to double its pipeline of world-class clinician-scientists by 2015 to help grow talent pool and thought leadership in Asian diseases and in areas such as cancer, neurosciences, eye diseases, infectious diseases, and metabolic disorders.
On the clinical research front, US-based bio/pharmaceutical services organisation PAREXEL International is addressing the growing demand for new talent to underpin the rapid expansion of clinical research in Asia by setting up an academic programme in Singapore through an alliance with the National University of Singapore (NUS). The partnership is between PAREXEL Academy, which offers professional training and education courses in clinical research from its base in Berlin, Germany and the NUS Academy of GxP Excellence (NUSAGE).
